13 members of NetworkIrlande gathered at a new venue for our latest Lunch & Learn – this time
around hosted by Claire Barnard, Commercial Development Manager EU for Castlebrook.

Claire brought us through the fascinating insights in the world of hotel refitting, sharing with the
group the various challenges and behind-the-scenes management involved in Castlebrook’s work.
Established in Bray in Ireland over 40 years ago, they have been working in Ireland and the UK and
expanding more and more in France and across Europe in recent years. Their work in Paris includes
the Grand Hotel Cayre, Marriott Champs Elysee and Sofitel Le Scribe. Claire emphasised the
importance of project management and collaboration, listening to the client and tailoring their work
to the needs of even the most complex projects. Some of the challenges were discussed including
delivery bottlenecks in Paris, having to meet the deadline of the Olympic Games and learning to
work alongside teams with different cultures and expectations. Claire shared photographs of the
many varied projects they have managed across Europe with an extremely broad range of designs
and concepts.

As Castlebrook source their quality products from all over the world discussions also moved to the
current crisis and how companies are adapting and coping with that.

We were delighted to have a few new faces around the table, as usual some connections were
made, people figured out who they knew in common and lots of business cards were shared. Thank
you to the team Nicola and William at Irish-owned and run Pizzawawa for the lovely welcome.
