Biodiversity Roundtable with Séché Environnement

News - Intro image

“Safeguarding Biodiversity: Strategies for a Sustainable Future” brought together experts, leaders, and members for a rich exchange on how to reconcile industrial development with the preservation of nature.

On Thursday November 6th, NetworkIrlande were delighted to welcome about 50 members and friends to a wonderful round-table event generously hosted by Séché Environnement on the 54th floor of Tour Montparnasse.

NetworkIrlande Board Member Neil Curtis opened the evening and introduced Ambassador Niall Burgess who spoke to the importance of the topic on the eve of COP30 in Brazil and ten years on from the Paris Climate Agreement.

M. Denis Cheissoux, well known for his expertise in this area and a familiar voice to us all from France Inter, introduced Professor Marc-André SELOSSE, microbiologist and ecologist, for his keynote speech. Citing examples in particular relating to forestry and water, M. Selosse expertly brought some of the key issues to the fore, setting the tone for a scintillating round table to follow.

M. Pierre-Yves Burlot of Séché Environnement spoke to their challenges in recycling, and in particular with dangerous materials. M. Vincent Coquen of Brittany Ferries tackled the subject of heavy fuel in the maritime transport sector and also aquatic life. M Alexandre capelli of LVMH explained how biodiversity is one of the four pillars of their strategy, given the vast scope of their product portfolio. And M. Benoît Galaup of AXA discussed the risks associated, especially the growing risks of polycrises. M. Cheissoux navigated the diverse subjects deftly and the conversation was very much appreciated by all in attendance.

M Richard Dujardin, President of NetworkIrlande, brought the informative part of the evening to a close and the evening concluded with a networking cocktail with spectacular views over the City of Lights.

Many thanks to Séché Environnement and all the speakers for an extremely informative and enlightening event.
