NetworkIrlande France Pioneer members were honoured to attend a memorable evening at the Embassy of Ireland in Paris, celebrating the enduring friendship and historic rugby rivalry between France and Ireland. The reception marked the unveiling of a powerful new symbol of solidarity between the two nations, bringing together distinguished guests, sporting legends, and members of the Franco-Irish community for a truly special occasion.
Last Wednesday February 04th, NetworkIrlande Pioneer members attended the Franco-Irish
friendship reception at the Embassy of Ireland in France. This event was held by the Embassy in
partnership with the IRFU and the FFR, and hosted with Minister for Culture, Communications, and
Sport, Patrick O'Donovan TD; the French Ambassador to Ireland, Céline Place; and the Director for
the European Union at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Vincent Guerend.
The evening celebrated a historic rugby rivalry shaped by mutual respect and a shared history and
we heard colourful stories and anecdotes from rugby legends Brian O'Driscoll and Abdelatif Benazzi.
The highlight of the reception was the official unveiling of the Solidarity Trophy / Trophée de la
Solidarité, jointly conceived by the two national federations and Mick O’Keeffe of Teneo Ireland. Its
spiral design evokes connection, continuity, and the strength of the Franco-Irish relationship.
Ireland didn’t have what it took on the night to take the trophy home at the inaugural match on
Thursday at Stade de France, but we will be back to fight another fight!
We wish to sincerely thank the Embassy of Ireland France team for inviting NetworkIrlande France
Pioneer members to attend. It was a real privilege to be present for this captivating and momentous
launch.
