Fresh €1m deal seals record year of growth for Combilift

News - image_intro

Combilift, the warehouse solutions and forklift manufacturer, has signed a €900,000 contract with the Liebherr Group in Kerry.

The new deal will see the Monaghan-based firm supply Combilift equipment to operate on Liebherr's site at Fenit Harbour and Marina near Tralee.

It is the second major contract signed in as many months by Combilift, which has commenced production in a new, €46m state-of-the-art factory in Gallinagh, Co Monaghan.

Last week, Combilift was presented with the Excelling Enterprise of The Year Award at the Business and Finance Awards at a gala event in The Convention Centre, Dublin.

Last month, the privately owned manufacturer of multi-directional forklifts signed a $1m contract with Civmec, an Australian construction and engineering company. Civmec provides engineering services to the oil and gas, metals and minerals, infrastructure and defence markets in Australia.

Australia is the sixth-largest export market for Combilift with sales of €10m to date in 2017. Combilift also supplies a range of products to Bunnings, the largest DIY and home improvement chain in Australia.

Martin McVicar, managing director, Combilift, acknowledged the long-standing relationship between CombiLift and the Liebherr Group.

"We are delighted with this additional business with Liebherr who are a valued customer across their multiple sites and plants in Europe," said Mr McVicar who warned that Irish exporters need to secure and diversify their supply chains ahead of Britain's exit from the European Union.

"Ireland relies so much on the UK market," he said. "We're the fastest growing economy in Europe, but a lot of that [growth] is reliant on what is going on in the UK."
